CAPTAIN CARTER, A FLIGHT MANAGER SINCE 1996 WHO HAS BEEN SERVING AS ACTING CHIEF PILOT, REPLACES CAPTAIN RICK MALONEY WHO BECAME THE ORD CHIEF PILOT LAST MONTH. CARTER BEGAN HIS FLYING CAREER WITH UNITED IN 1978 AFTER SERVING IN THE U.S. NAVY FOR EIGHT YEARS. HE GAINED FLYING EXPERIENCE ON THE B737, B727, B767/757, B747 AND DC10 FLEETS AND HAS FLOWN CAPTAIN ON THE B727, B767/757 AND B747 AIRCRAFT. HE BECAME AN LCA IN 1997 AND HOLDS A DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME. NEW FLIGHT MANAGER AT DEN ------------------------- DENFO CHIEF PILOT CAPTAIN JOE ROZIC HAS SELECTED CAPTAIN J.R. RUSSELL AS THE NEW FLIGHT MANAGER AT DENFO, REPLACING CAPTAIN MIKE LINDSAY WHO IS RETURNING TO LINE FLYING. CAPTAIN RUSSELL JOINED UNITED IN 1979, AND HAS FLOWN B727, B737-200, B747 AND B777 AIRCRAFT. HE HAS SERVED AS A STANDARDS CAPTAIN ON THE B737 AND B777, AND IS CURRENTLY THE B777 FLIGHT MANAGER AT THE FLIGHT CENTER. HE ASSUMES HIS NEW POSITION EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1. FLIGHT MANAGER OPENINGS AT ORD ------------------------------ AS ANNOUNCED IN A JOB POSTING DATED DECEMBER 14, FLIGHT OPERATIONS IS SEEKING TO FILL TWO FLIGHT MANAGER POSITIONS AT ORDFO. THESE OPENINGS ARE DUE TO CAPTAIN JIM BALLARD AND CAPTAIN STEVE HENDRICKS RETURNING TO THE LINE. FLIGHT MANAGER CANDIDATES MUST HAVE 500 HOURS EXPERIENCE AS A UNITED CAPTAIN; LCA EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED.
