Each of them was invited to one of four luncheons held this Fall at DEN, SFO, LAX and ORD. Defibrillator Installation and Training Begins ---------------------------------------------- United installed its first defibrillator on a B747 in September and began training flight attendants on the equipment in October. Widebody planes are slated to receive the defibrillators first, with a plan for all aircraft to be equipped by March 2000. To ensure flight attendants are familiar with the equipment, defibrillator training began October 4 in SFO, DCA and HNL, followed by ORD, LAX, LHR and TPE on October 18. The training consists of one full day of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and defibrillator training. According to Vanessa Jamison, Manager-Emergency Procedures Training, DENTK, it will take two-and-a-half years to complete training for 25,500 flight attendants. Welcome Aboard -------------- Twenty one new-hire pilots began training at the Flight Center this week, bringing the 1999 total to 680.
