Job Openings at LAXFO --------------------- In a July 21 Job Posting, Flight Operations announced two management openings at LAXFO: Manager-Administration and Flight Operations Supervisor (FOS). The Manager- Administration is responsible for the domicile business plan and coordinates the planning process for manpower, expense, capital expenditures and facilities. Current Manager- Administration Ed Payne will retire in September. The Flight Operations Supervisor provides assistance to the Chief Pilot and offers direction and supervision to apprentice pilots. Current FOS Mike (Oki) Ladaw is returning to line flying. Additional responsibilities for both positions are listed in the July 21 posting. Interested candidates should submit a self-nomination form and resume to DENEV-Job Posting by July 31. Change to VACA Screens ---------------------- Starting with the awarding of July vacations, there will be a computer enhancement of a pilot's VACA screen in Unimatic. There will be a "lock-out" system in place that is similar to the "lock-out" used on a pilot's BIDREQ screen during the awarding of vacancy bids. A pilot's VACA screen will be locked during the time that the domiciles are inputting new vacations. During this time, pilots will be able to see any vacations that were in their screen prior to the "lock-out." However, pilots will not be able to see the newly scheduled vacations. There will be a flashing "SCHED IN PROGRESS" prompt at the top of the VACA page when the lock is in progress. Once vacations have been finalized and official notification occurs (notices placed in pilot mailboxes at domiciles), the VACA screen will be unlocked and all scheduled vacations will be viewable by pilots. Pilots may direct questions on the process to their domiciles. Benefits Statements on Their Way to U.S. Employees -------------------------------------------------- For the first time since 1996, U.S. employees will receive personalized benefits statements. The statements, which are a snapshot of the benefit selections made by employees during the October 1998 Open Enrollment period, are being sent to all active, full-time or part-time employees on the U.S. payroll as of December 31, 1998. In addition to showing medical/dental elections, flexible spending account elections and family information, each statement includes a 401(K) summary, ESOP shares balance, disability and survivor benefits, vacation days and holidays. Beginning this week, statements will be mailed to the homes of U.S.-based employees and employees on the U.S. payroll who are domiciled outside the United States. Employees who do not receive their statements by August 9 will be able to request duplicate copies. Instructions will be published in "NewsReal" in August.
