Qualifications include three years as a UA Captain, two years in UA management, one year as a UA Line Check Airman, Standards Captain or Pilot Instructor Check Airman; and demonstrated leadership ability (e.g. UA, ALPA, military, civic). In addition, the ideal candidate will also have a four-year college degree, one year of UA domicile management experience, experience working with other Flight Operations departments and other divisions, experience working with industry and government organizations, and international experience. Interested candidates should submit a self-nomination form to WHQLR-Job Posting by July 23. Additional Reserve System Tests start Sept. 1 --------------------------------------------- Two additional reserve system tests will be conducted beginning Sept. 1 through Oct. 31. Test #5 will be an Active/Passive system that will also include reserve rest requirements and will involve DCA B767 First Officers. Test #6 will test the present reserve system with some modifications to accommodate the required rest rule and will involve ORD B767 Captains. United buys IDS-4 for Hubs -------------------------- United has bought Information Data System-4 that displays operational ATC information. The system should be operational for the Chicago region by Sept. 1, followed by the other hubs. IDS-4 information ranges from static (approach plates) to real-time, including Airport Arrival Rate (AAR), runway configuration, Weather, Runway Visual Range (RVR), and status of NAVAIDS and runways. Flight Ops Regional Air Traffic managers, Dispatch ATC coordinators, the SOC and Station Control Centers will use IDS-4 to analyze the Air Traffic System on a real-time basis, providing the means to predict the FAA's actions in an intelligent manner. This should result in a smoother operation.
