Flight Manager Named in LAX --------------------------- LAXFO Chief Pilot Captain Gary Meermans has selected Captain Richard "Scotty" Scott as the new flight manager at LAXFO, replacing Captain Denny Giesea who is returning to line flying. Captain Scott, a retired Commander in the United States Navy, joined United in 1989, has flown the B747-400, B747-100, B757/67 and A320 for United, and has served as an LCA in the DC-10 and A320 fleets. He is currently an A320 Standards Captain. Captain Scott's new position is effective July 26. Just a Reminder . . . --------------------- If you receive an ACARS that reads FO DRG T, it means that upon arrival one or all of the cockpit crew may be asked to take a drug test. FO stands for "Flight Officer," which refers to all cockpit crewmembers: the Captain, the First Officer, and when applicable, the Second Officer. Please do not contact Dispatch to request the names of the crewmembers to be tested, as they do not have that information. When ACARS reads SW DRG T, indicating that one or all of the flight attendants may be asked to take a drug test, please pass the information on to the flight attendants so that they can prepare for the test. Corporate Travel Hotel Desk Update ---------------------------------- Effective July 15, 1999, the LAX FOSR desk will be handling crew hotel and transportation accommodations previously handled by the Corporate Travel hotel desk. Questions regarding layovers in LAX should be directed to the FOSR at (310) 342-8757. Welcome Aboard -------------- There was no new hire class at the Flight Center this week.
