FLIGHT OPS FLYER April 23, 1999 **************** ************** New Denver Chief Pilot Selected ------------------------------- Managing Director Line Operations and System Chief Pilot Captain Dave Ringwalt this week announced the selection of DENFO Flight Manager Captain Joe Swenson as the new Chief Pilot at DENFO, replacing retiring Chief Pilot Captain Joe Rozic. Captain Swenson joined United in 1967, and has flown the B727, B737 and B757/67 aircraft. He served as a Flight Instructor and Check Airman at the Flight Center and has been a Flight Manager at DENFO since September 1993. "Congratulations to Joe Swenson on his new position," said Captain Ringwalt, "and best wishes and my thanks to Joe Rozic for 32 years of dedicated service to United Airlines." Captain Swenson assumes his new job on May 1; Captain Rozic is returning to the line to fly the B767 before he retires on July 1. New Manager of Flight Systems ----------------------------- Manager of Air Traffic and Flight Systems Captain Bill Cotton has named Captain Rocky Stone as the new Manager of Flight Systems, replacing Captain Parmod Malik who has returned to line flying. Captain Stone will be responsible for integrating new technologies into United cockpits to increase safety, capacity and efficiency. He joined United in 1992 as a second officer on the B727, has flown the B737- 300 and B767, and served as a Pilot Instructor on the B767. Captain Stone has a B.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from MIT and an M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and served as a test pilot in the U.S. Air Force prior to joining United. 15 Flight Ops Employees Honored at Corporate Awards Dinner ---------------------------------------------------------- Fifteen Flight Operations employees, along with 92 other employees from throughout the company, were honored at the Corporate Annual Awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare on April 22. United Chairman Jerry Greenwald led a toast to the winners, who along with their guests and Division leaders were treated to dinner and an awards presentation. Since March 1 and continuing through May 10, the domiciles and the Flight Center are hosting the one-hour seminar. The schedule is available through DIS*17811. Pilots will receive one hour's pay for attending the seminar, which they will receive via a special check after May 10. Pilots who do not attend the seminar by May 10 will be placed on Not Qualified (NQ) status without pay. Welcome Aboard -------------- There was no new hire pilot class at DENTK this week.
