Three New Flight Managers at ORD
--------------------------------
ORDFO Chief Pilot Captain Rick Maloney has announced the 
selection of three new Flight Managers, effective Feb. 15.

Captain Steve Jones, currently the Flight Manager at ANCFO, 
has flown the B737-200 and 300, B757/767 and DC-10.  Captain 
Bob Jordan is currently a B727 Captain at ORD, and has 
served as an LCA for two years.  He also has experience on 
the B757/767.  Captain Dennis Taylor has flown the B727, 
B767 and B737.  He is currently a member of the Total 
Airline Pilot development team.

And A New Flight Manager at the Flight Center

B757/767 Fleet Captain Bill Bodkin has announced the 
selection of Standards Captain Timothy Adam as the new 
B757/767 Flight Manager at the Flight Center.  Captain Adam 
has flown the B727, B737-300 and B767, and has served as an 
LCA.  He replaces Captain Nate Cloak, who is now the DC-10 
Fleet Captain.    

Cabin Checked Baggage Delays Improve at Template Stations
---------------------------------------------------------
Three hub stations that have installed carry-on baggage 
sizer templates since November 1998 have posted significant 
reductions in delays caused by cabin checked bags.  The 
templates, which are installed at the front opening of X-ray 
screening machines at selected North American airports, 
permit only those bags which measure 45 linear inches or 
less to pass through.  ORD, LAX and DEN have each reported 
improvements in delays due to cabin checked bags:

         ORD        72% reduction
         LAX        65% reduction
         DEN        57% reduction

Installation of templates will continue through mid-
February, when 27 North American stations will have them.

Welcome Aboard

There was no new-hire pilot class at the Flight Center this 
week.  The total number of new hires for 1999 remains 68.
