FLIGHT OPS FLYER JANUARY 15, 1999 **************** **************** SFO Fills Flight Ops Supervisor Position ---------------------------------------- SFO Chief Pilot Captain Bill Willson announced this week the appointment of Shuttle First Officer Russ Willsher as the domicile's New Pilot-Flight Operations Supervisor. Russ replaces Bill Moore who is returning to the line. Russ -- a native to the Bay area -- began with United in February 1997. Russ has also flown the First Officer position in the B737 with Alaska Airlines and in an MD-11 with World Airways. He achieved the rank of Captain in a Metroliner with Skywest Airlines. Other flying experience includes the Gulfstream G-4 and the Hawker 800 with Kaiser Air. Russ' assignment becomes effective March 1. E-Note Address Available for Lateral and Training Requests ---------------------------------------------------------- The Manpower Planning Department of Flight Crew Resources now offers a way for pilots to communicate via E-note to make date requests for awarded lateral bids and training. Using this tool will allow analysts to work actual requests and free up time spent fielding phone requests. Pilots who have been awarded a lateral bid and who would like to request either to be activated as soon as possible or to be delayed to a certain date if possible, should send an E-Note to the address "Laterals" with the address code of WHQCM. Pilots who have been awarded a bid that requires training and would like to request either to go to training as soon as possible or to be delayed to a certain date if possible, should send an E-note to the address "Training" with the address code of WHQCM. Please remember that both of these are requests only and manpower needs dictate the final activation of laterals or training dates.
